Here is the holy grail of vintage Univox Uni-Vibes of which the Megavibes are modeled after!
The Univox Uni-Vibe was originally made for electronic keyboards to simulate a rotating speaker effect-it had a 4 stage filter circuit, solid-state transistorized circuitry! The circuitry of the Uni-Vibe had 13 transistors,4 photocells which were housed in an aluminum enclosure, vintage style resistors.unique LFO circuitry
,built-in transformer for power supply
,however with the built-in transformer,it caused bulb static noise that you can hear in time with the phasing of the effect while the bulb pulsated on & off. Also Univox Uni-Vibes featured a speed controller footpedal for speed control-late 60's original Univox Uni-Vibes speed controller footpedals had two rubber stop pads on them
-later early to mid 70's Univox Uni-Vibes featured a single rubber stop pad on top of the speed controller footpedals whereas the late 60's & very early 70's vibes had the two rubber stop pads on the footpedals! Here's an inside view of the late 6o's vibes footpedal
notice that the footpedal has a dual taper to control the speed of the vibe
Which was a 100k dual taper. The Univox Uni-Vibe wasn't made exactly great, part changes being made during production runs varied the sound quality of vibes-The Megavibes are modeled after a 1969 vibe(exactly like this Univox Uni-Vibe!)& feature the exact same circuitry & top notch sound but made better & with higher quality components of the same values of the originals, here's the original vibe circuit board
and here's the Megavibe-original
and the small Megavibe
and a size comparison!
as you can see the small Megavibe pc board is half the size as the Megavibe original!-Both Megavibes feature the authentic Univox Uni-Vibe circuitry & layout but with better quality parts & feature the exact same solid-state transistorized circuitry-13 transistors(no op-amps here!)4 staged filter circuit, authentic LFO circuitry,4 photocells housed in an aluminum housing exacly the same as found in an original vibe & same type vintage style resistors and both Megavibes feature a 100k dual taper for speed control like as found in the footpedal of original vibes!-Now you know what the Megavibes are modeled after-THE REAL THING! Why buy a vibe clone that kinda sorta has the sound when you can buy a Megavibe that IS a real vibe!!
You can see how a Megavibe is wired up nicely and made to last!
A a vintage Univox Uni-vibe that is number 400!-One of the first!-below with the Megavibe!

Here's few quotes from a couple of famous player's now using the Megavibe:
